Road closures expected for CFP Championship game in Houston ⛔🏈

HOUSTON – Are you headed out to the College Football Playoff Championship game on Monday?

Make sure you save this page before heading out of the house to avoid a major traffic headache.

Officials with the city of Houston have closed several roadways in multiple areas including East Downtown, Shell Energy Stadium, and NRG Stadium.

Here are some of the closures you can expect:

Shell Energy Stadium

  • 900 block of Bastrop
  • 2200 and 2300 blocks of Walker
  • All lanes of Capitol

EADO

  • Rusk St (San Jacinto to Austin) North Lane bagged meters
  • Capitol St (Caroline St to Fannin) North Lane bagged meters
  • Leeland St (St Emanuel St to Emancipation Ave) North Lane bagged meters
  • Bell St (St Emanuel St to Emancipation Ave) North Lane bagged meters

NRG

11:00 a.m. - 1:00 a.m.

  • Lantern Point from McNee to Murworth
  • Murworth from Lantern Point to Kirby

7:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.

  • Kirby from McNee to Murworth

8:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.

  • Kirby from 610 to Westridge Northbound

KPRC 2′s Traffic Expert Justina Latimer said those in the area should also expect closures near major hotels.
