SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A tornado touched down in northwest San Antonio Wednesday morning as dangerous storms continued to batter South Texas, leaving behind damage and prompting tornado and flash flood warnings across the region.

Videos shared on Click2Pins show the tornado moving through the area near Interstate 10 and Loop 1604. Other footage captures damage to buildings, scattered debris and dangerous conditions left behind by the storm.

The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado after it crossed the far northwest side of the city, traveling from near The Dominion toward Leon Springs before weakening. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The tornado comes as South Texas continues to deal with days of heavy rainfall that have triggered widespread flash flooding, road closures and dozens of water rescues. Some communities west of San Antonio have received more than a foot of rain, and forecasters warn additional downpours could bring another 10 to 20 inches of rainfall in isolated areas through Thursday.

Earlier this week, Gov. Greg Abbott activated state emergency resources ahead of the continued flooding threat, deploying rescue teams, high-water vehicles, helicopters and other assets to assist local communities.

The National Weather Service urges Texans in flood-prone areas to avoid driving through flooded roadways and to seek shelter immediately if a tornado warning is issued. Additional rounds of heavy rain remain in the forecast for parts of South and Central Texas.
