Since the catastrophic 2021 winter storm that left millions without power, Texas has been striving to strengthen its power grid against extreme weather.

The City of Houston is letting residents know about an opportunity to replace broken weatherheads at no charge.

Now, Pamela Bunkley, Jones’ daughter, and her husband are suing CenterPoint Energy for wrongful death. AdDuring that time, there was no electricity to power James’ respirator and he became weaker and weaker from the lack of oxygen. Now, James’ daughter Pamela is suing CenterPoint Energy for more than a million dollars, claiming the company caused her father’s death.

“I don’t know if anything compares to loss of life in this magnitude,” said Houston attorney Chris Leavitt of the Buzbee Law Firm. It was a series of really poor decisions that put money over people’s safety.”Leavitt said as of Monday, his firm has filed more than 30 wrongful death lawsuits against The Electric Reliability Council of Texas and power companies across Texas that center on decisions made leading up to last month’s winter storm. She lost power during the storm and then her pipes burst. She went to stay with her daughter and then her daughter lost power. AdWhile as a matter of company policy CenterPoint Energy does not comment on pending litigation, we mourn for all the lives that were lost as a result of the severe winter weather event.

The complaints blamed the electric companies for the deaths of Houstonians who froze to death during last week’s winter storms. The 60-year-old man died alone and in the dark after his family lost contact with him on Monday of last week. Most of us all lost power, but he also lost the battery life of his cell phone. Rivera’s family is suing Centerpoint Energy and ERCOT for negligence in his death. That’s what Mr. Rivera’s family wants,” said the family’s attorney Larry F. Taylor.

HOUSTON – The lawsuits are piling up against the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and Centerpoint Energy after last week’s winter storm. His attorney says he was healthy but with no power and no heat, his attorney said he had no way to survive. The family did everything they could,” said Austin family attorney Larry Taylor.
