CLUTE, Texas – On Wednesday, KPRC 2 loaded up the storm tracker and rolled out to Brazoria County to see how the overnight downpours impacted various communities.
Social media videos showed streets and yards being impacted from Angleton down to Surfside. By late morning, Angleton was dried out in most parts with some properties still showcasing plenty of standing water.
In southeast Angleton, along the banks of Bastrop Bayou, the waters had elevated to the point that several docks were completely underwater. Residents who live along the banks say they have not seen it this bad in years. The greater concern for them, how much water will flow through the bayou as a result of water levels shedding from other parts of the state.
Reports of impacted streets in Freeport were completely dry by late afternoon.
A short drive up the road in Clute, Ralph and George Streets were overwhelmed with around 20 inches of water that refused to disappear for most of the day. It wasn’t until a sweltering sun emerged that the waters started to evaporate.
City of Clute Public Works employees confirmed to KPRC 2 that all pumps were working properly. It was simply a case of too much water impacting the system according to one worker.
