Overnight storms move out of Houston

HOUSTON – A strong line of thunderstorms pummeled Houston and surrounding areas Friday night and into Saturday morning.

High winds knocked out power in areas around Houston.

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty and Montgomery counties until 4 a.m.

A flash flood watch remains in effect until 1 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued of most of southeast Texas until 3 a.m. Saturday. A flood warning was issued for Burleson County from Saturday morning to late Saturday night, or until the warning is canceled.

The strongest portions of the storm passed through the area around 3 a.m. but left behind the possibility for flooding. 

The storms will be capable of localized flooding even outside the watch zones.

Most of the rain and thunderstorms are expected to dissipate late Saturday morning.
