Man accused of fatally shooting fiancée’s daughter’s boyfriend after fight in southeast Houston

A man is dead after investigators say he was shot by his girlfriend’s mother’s fiancé following a fight Saturday night in southeast Houston.

Houston police responded around 11:10 p.m. to the 3700 block of Odin Court after a woman called 911 to report a shooting.

According to investigators, two men began fighting when one of them pulled out a gun and shot the other in the chest.

Houston Fire Department crews arrived and began CPR on the victim, who is believed to be in his 30s. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police said officers recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.

The suspected gunman, a man in his 50s, was taken into custody at the scene. He was later transported to a hospital in stable condition.

Investigators said the suspect is engaged to a woman whose daughter was dating the victim.

A woman who witnessed the shooting was detained by investigators and is cooperating with the investigation. Another woman inside the home at the time told police she heard the gunfire but did not see the shooting.

The circumstances that led to the fight remain under investigation. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or announced any charges.
