Las Vegas police investigate fatal hotel shooting
Police said they were investigating a fatal shooting Thursday in a hotel room at the Mirage hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Las Vegas police said early Friday one person was dead, two others were injured and a suspect was at large. (Aug. 5)news.yahoo.com
Houston Astros acquire Trey Mancini in three-team trade deal
The Houston Astros have acquired 1B/DH Trey Mancini from the Baltimore Orioles and minor league RHP Jayden Murray from the Tampa Bay Rays in part of a three-team trade. To complete their portion of the deal, the Astros sent OF Jose Siri to the Rays and minor league RHP Chayce McDermott to the Orioles. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager James Click.
Alonso, Pujols, Acuña, Soto in for Home Run Derby
Mets slugger Pete Alonso will try to become the first player to win the All-Star Home Run Derby three consecutive times against a field that will also include the Cardinals’ Albert Pujols, Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber, the Braves’ Ronald Acuña Jr. and Washington's Juan Soto.

Astros rally in 9th, but lose on walk-off HR to Orioles, 8-7
(PhotoBALTIMORE - Rio Ruiz hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning to carry the Baltimore Orioles over Houston 8-7 Sunday, ending the Astros' eight-game winning streak in stunning fashion. Houston scored three runs in the top of the ninth to go up 7-5 before the Orioles answered in the bottom half against closer Roberto Osuna (3-3). Houston trailed by two runs in the seventh and 5-4 in the ninth before striking against Mychal Givens. Carlos Correa hit a three-run homer for the Astros, whose ninth-inning surge enabled Verlander to keep his five-game winning streak intact. With Davis leading the way, the Orioles struck out 16 times.
