The leaders of the museum themselves are veterans and understand the importance of preserving that history and educating the public about it. 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and likely the last milestone anniversary for most of those that served in uniform. The โ€œFight to the Finishโ€ flyover was initially scheduled from Friday, but due to severe weather, it was postponed until Sunday. In honor those that served and sacrificed during World War II and to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, Lone Star Flight Museum organized a flyover event across Houston. Originally scheduled to take place on Friday, May 8, Lone Star Flight Museumโ€™s Fight to the Finish Flyover was postponed due to inclement weather. The flyover is now set to take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 10. According to the Lone Star Flight Museum, nearly 30 rare and historic warbirds will fly over the city of Houston. HOUSTON โ€“ Nearly 30 of the Lone Star Flight Museumโ€™s historic war planes will take the Houston skies on Sunday to acknowledge the 75th anniversary of V-E Day. The Lone Star Flight Museum has released a commemorative program that features the route and planes that will take part in the event over the Houston area. You can download the PDF below and print it out to remember the 75th anniversary celebration that honors those who served and sacrificed during World War II. HOUSTON โ€“ This Sundayโ€™s โ€˜Flight to the Finishโ€™ flyover event presented by Lone Star Flight Museum will feature some of the most prominent aircraft that flew during World War II. The planes will depart from Ellington Field at 1:45 p.m. and travel to different parts of Houston, including downtown, the San Jacinto Monument and Memorial Park.
