Nearly two years after his conviction, Antonio “AJ” Armstrong Jr.’s legal fight is far from over. The Houston man, found guilty of killing his parents, Dawn and Antonio Armstrong Sr. in 2016, is now preparing for an upcoming appeals hearing that could determine whether he gets a new trial or a chance at freedom.

After 19 hours and 10 minutes of deliberation Friday night, the jury in the A.J. Armstrong case could not come to a unanimous verdict casing Judge Kelli Johnson to declare a mistrial.

Alexander, who also goes by A.J., was last seen last year near a warehouse on Lumberdale Road in northwest Houston. His uncle says he was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his disappearance.

Adrian Beltre is now a member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Hall of Fame, a likely precursor to the National Baseball Hall of Fame when eligible for that in a few years.
