HOUSTON – A driver was killed early Sunday after their vehicle slammed into a parked 18-wheeler in east Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Investigators said the car was traveling northbound on Dorsett Avenue when it struck the parked big rig near the intersection with Pillot Street at about 3:32 a.m. The impact sent the vehicle into a nearby grassy area along a fence, where it caught fire.

Police said the vehicle had one occupant, who died from injuries at about 3:41 a.m. Officers have not said whether impairment played a role, noting that intoxication is not known at this time.
