All-clear given after suspicious package investigated at Montgomery County Courthouse

CONROE, Texas – Authorities are investigating a suspicious package discovered Monday in downtown Conroe, prompting evacuations and multiple street closures near the Montgomery County Courthouse.

At around 5:30 p.m., authorities announced that the package has been made safe, and an all-clear signal was announced.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are working alongside the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Conroe Police Department in response to the incident at the Lee G. Allworth Building in the 200 block of Phillips Street.

Law enforcement officials said the affected area has been secured while investigators determine the nature of the package.

As a precaution, nearby buildings are being evacuated and several streets in the downtown area remain closed to traffic.

Officials are urging the public to avoid the area while the investigation remains active.
