Houston Ballet closes 2025-2026 season with two standout productions

HOUSTON – As the 2025-2026 season wraps for the Houston Ballet, they are bringing two unforgettable productions to the stage at Wortham Theater Center downtown.

First, from May 28th through June 7th, enjoy “An Evening with Stars.” It’s a dazzling triple bill that includes the world premiere of SISU, choreographed by Alice Topp, the Houston Ballet premier of Dances at a Gathering, choreographed by Jerome Robbins, and the return of Tapestry, choreographed by Stanton Welch. These three distinct works highlight the breadth of the Company’s repertory and its continued investment in both new creation and historically significant choreography.

Then, from June 11th through June 21st catch Stanton Welch’s interpretation of Giselle. This classic ballet, created in 1841, is regarded as one of ballet’s most enduring romantic works.

Principal Dancers Tyler Donatelli and Angelo Greco, who have prolific roles in the final performances of the season, stopped by Houston Life to highlight what makes this year’s final shows so special.

Greco, who was born in Italy and trained at some of the most prestigious Italian ballet schools, explained the importance of a strong team when staging such challenging productions.

“Ballet is difficult but it’s also very beautiful and the only way you can make it through it is to trust your colleagues,” said Greco, who has trained on stages around the world.

Previously a principal dancer at San Francisco Ballet for 8 years, Greco joined Houston Ballet as Principal Dancer in July 2024.

Donatelli, who has been with the Houston Ballet since January 2014, spoke about the many hours required to prepare a production for the stage.

“We start class at 10am everyday, that’s an hour and a half, and then we have a six hour rehearsal,” said Donatelli, who was promoted to Principal Dancer in December 2025.
