HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A week after being brought unconscious with life-threatening injuries to a gas station in Spring, authorities with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says a 2-year-old girl has died.
The child’s mother, Jazmin Cisneros, as well as Cisneros’ boyfriend, Gerardo Gonzalez, are currently in the Harris County jail, both charged with injury to a child.

Investigators say they are currently in talks with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to determine the best charge to upgrade to after prosecutors said on Wednesday a capital murder charge is possible.
What happened?
On Thursday evening around 8:20 p.m., the couple drove from their home on Rendezvous Drive in Spring to a gas station on Cypresswood Drive about three minutes away.
There, they met with Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables who began rendering life-saving care on the toddler.
She had to be rushed to the hospital and eventually flown to a different hospital.
Overnight Thursday into Friday, Precinct 4 turned the investigation over to homicide detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators spent all night at the home on Rendezvous Court and the hospital.
On Friday, Gonzalez was arrested and charged after investigators alleged he struck the child multiple times causing her injuries.
On Tuesday, Jazmin Cisneros was arrested, accused of failing to seek medical attention after Gonzalez allegedly beat her child multiple times.
Court records indicate Cisneros first allegedly noticed visible injuries to her daughter and Gonzalez admitted to hitting the girl in the head multiple times on Saturday, Aug. 1. This is when the Harris County Sheriff’s Office believes the toddler suffered a skull fracture.
Then on Thursday, Aug. 6, Gonzalez allegedly hit the girl in the chest, lower back, and butt, records indicate, which is when investigators believe she suffered a lacerated liver and broken pelvis.
Cisneros allegedly told investigators she did not seek medical care or contact law enforcement after the Aug. 1 incident because she knew her boyfriend would “go to jail,” according to court records.
