Ask Anthony - Is another hurricane coming to the Gulf?

Social media posts are claiming another storm is coming

Viral posts on the next storm:

HOUSTON – Kerri Bambino asked me, “I hear there may be another hurricane in the Gulf after Milton. Is that true?” The KPRC 2 Storm Tracker Team is the best place to go for answers to questions like this. Don’t take what you see on social media as truth. Here is your answer.

Milton is now a post tropical cyclone, meaning it has lost its tropical characteristics. It is moving east into the Atlantic Ocean and will not come back despite what you may have seen on social media.

So what is next?

Hurricane season lasts through November 30th so there will be more hurricanes. Currently, we’re tracking tropical storm Leslie that is no threat to the United States. And there is an area of disturbed weather off the coast of Africa that has a 30% chance to become our next named storm. Nadine is the next in line. There is no immediate threat to the Gulf.

Beyond seven days:

The probability of a hurricane forming in the Gulf in the next 7-days is 0%. However, by Sunday, October 20th, a 10% chance of hurricane formation is noted closer to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and the Windward Islands. There is no immediate threat to the Gulf but we’ll watch and see what’s out there in a week and a half.
