The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has dismissed the criminal case against a former Klein ISD cosmetology teacher who had been accused of running a sex trafficking operation involving students and her adult son.
In an effort to bolster student safety, House Bill 4125, introduced by Rep. Sam Harless, seeks to close critical communication gaps between law enforcement and school districts.
The whistleblower, Desma Darden, revealed herself as a former teacher at Klein Cain High School. “I did not take this action simply because I’m an educator,” she said. “My first response was because I’m a mother. And it’s been a sickening dark pit in my stomach to know that Klein has sat on this information.”
The district is launching changes after a cosmetology teacher was accused of sex-trafficking and a 7-year-old with autism wandered off campus.

Grigsby’s attorney Samuel Milledge II told KPRC 2 Monday morning his client is facing six counts of various human trafficking cases, each at $75,000 roughly totaling $450,000 altogether.
Kedria Grisgby 42, and her son, Roger Magee, 21, were involved in a sex trafficking ring that included at least three teen girls. Grigsby reportedly taught Cosmetology at Klein Cain High School, is set to appear in court Monday.

One day after Grigsby’s arrest, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on an iPhone owned and used by Grigsby, which detailed a timeline of the investigation that led to her arrest.

Klein ISD said they had received a report of alleged misconduct against a cosmetology teacher at Klein Cain High School back in Feb. 2023, but was told by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office she was not a suspect in any case.
