Asian markets follow Wall Street higher ahead of election
TOKYO โ Asian stock markets followed Wall Street higher on Tuesday as investors watched for U.S. election results, hoping a win by challenger Joe Biden in the presidential race might lead to more economic stimulus. Traders are betting that Biden might push for a bigger U.S. stimulus if he unseats President Donald Trump. On Monday, Wall Street closed higher amid indications Biden might be leading. Markets are uneasy about rising infection rates in Europe, which are prompting more governments to reimpose restrictions on travel and business. On Wall Street, the benchmark S&P 500 index rose 1.2% to 3,310.24.
Clorox looking for schools to donate thermal scanners
Clorox is donating new devices to select schools to help teachers and students returning to the classroom during the pandemic. The device uses thermal sensors to spot potential spikes in body temperature. It also recognizes upticks in coughs and sneezes and notifies school administration after too many coughs or sneezes in one classroom. This is not currently in any Houston-area schools, Clorox wants you to nominate your school to test the device! Will homemade hand sanitizer protect you?
Hand sanitizer is one product that is hard to come by, sparking social media videos teaching you how to make your own. The concoction needs to have at least 60% alcohol to be effective but also an emollient to counteract the harshness. Since the coronavirus is a type of virus that has been around, it has been tested against the disinfectant. For example, Lysol wipes say to sanitize an area and let the Lysol sit wet on a surface for one minute and then wipe dry. To disinfect the area, it says to let it sit on the surface for four minutes before you wipe dry.
