Police: Man believed to be involved in San Luis Resort shooting arrested on unrelated charge

GALVESTON, Texas – A man believed to be involved in a shooting that critically injured a security guard last week at the San Luis Resort in Galveston was identified by police Thursday.

Investigators said Phillip Molis, 23, was patrolling the back of the property Sunday night when he noticed three men acting suspicious near cars in the parking lot. They said that as Molis approached the men, he was shot 11 times.

The three men fled, police said.

Molis was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.

Police said Tyronne Davis Haynes, 21, of Missouri City, was found hiding near the crime scene on the night of the shooting. They said he is believed to be involved in the shooting, but was being held in jail on an unrelated charge.

Investigators said they believe that Haynes is a member of the Gorilla Mob, and that the two other people believed to be involved in the shooting are also members of the gang.

A $30,000 reward is also being offered for information that leads to an arrest.

"This can save other people he's very loved and a well- hearted person and it's hard to see him doing the way that he is and we need Justice for it so don't be scared to talk," Molis' relative Destiny Rohas said.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call Galveston County Crime Stoppers at 409-763-8477.
