Man charged, accused of giving fentanyl to Harris County teenagers leading to 18-year-old’s death

16-year-old also overdosed, but survived

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says a 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an investigation into the death of an 18-year-old and the fentanyl overdose of a 16-year-old.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation into Avery Williams began on January 10.

It is alleged Williams gave powder fentanyl to a group of teenagers, leading to the death of 18-year-old Logan Ricks and the overdose of a 16-year -old, who survived after being transported for medical treatment.

On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office says HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Group 1, sheriff’s detectives, and the Tomball PD Task Force arrested Williams.

Williams is charged with murder by fentanyl delivery.
