LEAGUE CITY, Texas – What started as a little extra buzzing outside a League City home turned into a major problem hiding inside the walls for homeowner Ron Humason, “I found some bees in the corner of my house out front. I was out trimming some trees the other day and I noticed some bee activity coming in and out of the front of the house.”
After monitoring the activity it became obvious that a colony had moved in, but finding someone to safely remove the bees proved to be much more difficult.
After struggling to get help, Humason reached out to 2 Helps You.
That’s when Investigator Mario Diaz connected him with Bee’n Green and it’s owner Travis Feiner. The local bee removal company services all parts of the Houston area specializing in relocating honeybee colonies rather than exterminating them.
Before any work began, thermal imaging helped confirm the colony’s location inside the wall. Feiner along with his son, Justin, carefully opened the home’s siding, located the hive and used specialized equipment to safely vacuum tens of thousands of bees before transporting them to a new home.
Once the wall was opened, it became clear the bees had established a residence for quite some time. The honeycomb had darkened with age, a normal sign the colony was well established according to Feiner.
As Bee’n Green removed the comb, fresh raw honey flowed from the hive—providing a sweet reminder as to how busy these honey bees were inside the walls of the home.
But how can this be avoided?
“Cracks and crevices, anything bigger than a quarter of an inch, seal it up, plug it up, that way they don’t have an entry point to make it in your house,” was Feiner’s advice.
For Humason, the successful removal brought relief and gratitude after weeks of uncertainty and worry surrounding the growing hive inside his house.
