‘Within the hour:’ Highway 90 between Dayton and Liberty to close in river bottom area around Trinity River

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said they have been informed that Highway 90 in the river bottom area near the Trinity River is set to be closed “within the hour.”

UPDATE: Highway 90 between Dayton and Liberty at the Trinity River opening back up

This area of the highway connects the cities of Dayton and Liberty in Liberty County.

The area has seen heavy flooding due to the swollen Trinity River. The river here remains in major flood stage.

The sheriff’s office says make plans to take an alternative route if you have travel plans that take you on Highway 90.

TxDOT shared some detours people can use to get around the closure.
