4-year-old girl hospitalized after major crash with possible drunk driver in Montgomery County

CONROE, Texas – A man is behind bars Wednesday night for driving while intoxicated after allegedly causing a major crash in Montgomery County that sent a 4-year-old girl to the hospital.

Firefighters were called Wednesday Night to the crash on FM 1484 at Heritage Ranch Rd. just north of Conroe. Responding crews said they found two cars at the scene with heavy damage but immediately began taking lifesaving measures on a 4-year-old girl.

Investigators say the little girl was in cardiac arrest and suffered a head injury as well as a possible broken arm. For that, she was rushed to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands in serious condition. We’re told she was in a car driven by her mother’s friend, who was also hospitalized but in stable condition.

Initial details on what caused the crash are another driver in a Toyota 4-Runner crossed onto another lane, causing an almost head-on collision. The driver swerved trying to avoid the 4-Runner, but both vehicles still suffered serious damage.

Authorities say the 4-Runner driver was initially taken to the hospital to have his injuries examined but has since been placed in the Texas DPS’ custody, where he is facing charges for Driving While Intoxicated.
