Woman found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in locked SW Houston apartment

A woman with several gunshot wounds was found dead Monday night at an apartment complex in southwest Houston.

The shooting happened around 10 p.m. at the apartment complex on the 8900 block of Braesmont near Meyerland. Officers responded to a report of gunfire and found a 23-year-old woman lying in the doorway of a locked apartment with multiple gunshot wounds.

While Houston PD was at the apartment, the actual resident showed up saying her child and the babysitter were inside. The resident was identified only as the child’s mother and permitted officers to enter. A toddler between the ages of two and three was found inside the apartment, unharmed.

It’s unclear what caused the shooting and police say they are still searching for the suspected shooter.
