HOUSTON – Houston police said they have arrested a mother and her common-law husband in the death of her 8-year-old son Tuesday. Police said 24-year-old Kayla Holzendorf and 28-year-old Dominique Lewis have been charged with injury to a child and tampering with evidence. Investigators said paramedics were already at the scene performing CPR on the child. Both paramedics and officers reported seeing multiple injuries on the boy’s body that were not consistent with drowning, investigators said. According to investigators, the child’s biological mother and her husband were in the room on the second floor at the time of what they told police was a drowning.

Located in the 7320 block of Southwest Freeway, officials said the blaze broke out at Fung’s Kitchen around 11:47 p.m. According to firefighters, a Houston police officer was driving by when he saw the smoke coming from the restaurant. Strong winds gave firefighters a difficult time when putting out the blaze, officials said. 2 local defendants in Capitol riot appear in Houston federal court
HOUSTON – Two defendants charged with taking part in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 made court appearances at the Houston federal building on Thursday. One of the suspects is former Houston police officer Tam Pham while the other is Joshua Lollar, 39, who came to the federal building to post bond. Federal prosecutors accuse Lollar of clashing with capitol police two weeks ago as he made his way into the Capitol building during the riot. Federal agents said Lollar posted photos of himself inside the Capitol and even broadcast a Facebook Live post as he made his way in. On Thursday, Lollar arrived at the federal building, posted a deposit on a 50,000 bond and was fitted with an electronic monitor.
Mom finds son dead at home in northeast Harris County, deputies say
HUMBLE, Texas – Harris County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after they said a man was found dead by his mother at his home in northeast Harris County Sunday. Man found shot to death at gas station in southeast Houston, police say
HOUSTON – A murder investigation is underway after police said a man was found shot in a truck at a southeast Houston gas station Wednesday night. Investigators said the man was found at a Citgo on South Loop East and Broadway around 8:45 p.m. According to officers, the victim was transported to a trauma center while CPR was in progress but was pronounced dead. As of now, police said they have no suspects and say they aren’t sure if the man was shot at the gas station or somewhere else and then drove to the gas station.

16-year-old shot, killed in northeast Harris County, deputies say
HOUSTON – Deputies said they are investigating a shooting that left a 16-year-old male dead in northeast Harris County Wednesday. According to Deputy Thomas Gilliland, deputies arrived at the scene where the homeowner was performing CPR on a 16-year-old male that had been shot in the residence. The man told deputies he left the home one to two hours before and the 16-year-old was left inside the home by himself. Deputies said when the man arrived home, the door was ajar and he found that the 16-year-old had been shot inside the house. The man called 911 and attempted CPR before EMS arrived and pronounced the teen dead, deputies said.
Search underway for man after woman’s son finds her beaten to death, police say
HOUSTON – An eight year-old-boy discovered his mother’s murdered body and now the search is on for her killer. Investigators charged 22-year-old Alexis Armando Rojas-Mendez with murdering 27-year-old Ashley Garcia in the 5500 block of DeSoto. They claim when the young boy found his mother’s body, Rojas-Mendez said she was just sleeping. The documents also state Rojas-Mendez beat Garcia to death with a steel toe boot inside his northwest Houston apartment early Saturday morning, while her son was nearby. According to investigators, after Mendez killed Garcia, he told her son she was just sleeping and not to wake her up.
3-year-old drowns in pool during house party in northeast Houston, police say
HOUSTON – Police said a 3-year-old boy is dead after drowning at a home in northeast Houston Sunday. Police said it happened on Longview Street near Wayside Drive around 2:30 a.m. According to investigators, a party was going on at the home when the child was found face down in a pool. After the boy was pulled from the pool, CPR was performed on him until emergency crews arrived, officers said. Police said he was resuscitated and rushed to a nearby trauma center, where he later died.

HOUSTON – Homicide investigators are trying to piece together what happened after they said firefighters found a dead man’s body inside a burning home in southeast Houston Thursday. Police said the incident happened off Hogue Street near Bellfort around 5 p.m. Officials said Houston firefighters located a house with smoke coming out of it and searched the residence. HOUSTON – Police said they are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man outside a west Houston apartment complex Wednesday. Police said the victim and the suspect met Wednesday night in the parking lot of the Paramont Apartments off Barker Cypress Road around 8 p.m. According to investigators, the victim was outside of his vehicle when he was shot multiple times. Police are now questioning the person who they say was with him at the time of the shooting. Witnesses said the suspects, three men, left in a dark sedan.

Man dies after being shot in the head while leaving gas station in SW Houston, police say
HOUSTON – Police are investigating after a man was shot in the head while leaving a gas station in southwest Houston, police said. According to the gas station attendant, the suspect went inside the convenience store to buy beer, but it was after midnight, so he was denied and walked outside. Then the attendant said the victim bought cigarettes, walked back to his car and started driving away. However, it appeared the suspect was waiting and started shooting at the victim, according to the attendant. The victim then crashed into a sign at the gas station, police said.

CYPRESS, Texas Firefighters are investigating a garage fire that left a family of nine displaced in Cypress Wednesday. Officials said the fire happened around 12:25 a.m. in the 20200 block of Pioneer Ridge Drive near Enchanted Creek Drive. According to firefighters, crews found flames coming from the garage and a vehicle in the driveway. Firefighters said the family was sleeping at the time and woke up to the noise and escaped. Man dies near hotel after shooting at gas station in Greenspoint: Police
HOUSTON – Police are investigating a shooting they said left a man 30-year-old man dead near a hotel Monday night. Police said the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. at a Greenspoint gas station located at 17600 Wayforest Drive. According to officers, the victim was behind the gas station when a man wearing all black with a mask walked around the corner and shot him. “A man wearing all black, black male with a mask, walked around the corner and just shot him,” said Lt. Police: Large fight leads to deadly shooting at Houston Sportsplex; shooter says it was self-defense
HOUSTON Houston police are investigating a shooting at Houston Sportsplex that left a man dead Thursday. The man who fired the shots is now saying it was self-defense, officers said. Investigators said the shooting happened at 12631 S. Main St. at around 10:40 p.m. when a large fight broke out in the parking lot over a softball game. According to investigators, the shooter remained at the scene and is cooperating with officers. The shooter is stating it was in self-defense and he feared for his life, police said.
Racist, offensive language spray-painted in Deer Park ditch
DEER PARK, Texas – The Deer Park Police Department said they are angry after an officer found racist and offensive language spray-painted in a ditch Saturday. Officers said they were dispatched to the 1300 block of E. Pasadena Boulevard after receiving a report of vandalism. When officers arrived at the scene, one of them discovered the graffiti spray-painted on a concrete ditch line belonging to Harris County Flood Control. The graffiti had BLM in a circle with a strike-through line followed by, “WHITE MEN UNITE KEEP N------ OUT OF DEER PARK.”Officers said Deer Park Parks and Recreation department responded and painted over the offending graffiti. “The City of Deer Park and the Deer Park Police Department does not tolerate hate speech/action, racism or discrimination of any kind,” DPPD said in a Facebook post.
Uber Eats driver finds man’s body at apartment complex, deputies say
HOUSTON – Deputies are investigating after they said an Uber Eats driver found a man’s dead body at an apartment complex Monday. Deputies said the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and Cypress Creek EMS responded after the driver found the body at an apartment complex located at 905 Cypress Station near Rustyleaf Lane at around 12:45 a.m. According to investigators that were at the scene, the Uber Eats driver found an unresponsive black male with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the apartment complex by the dumpster. Deputies said there isn’t any suspect info or known motive. Deputies said they are hoping to find clues on nearby surveillance video.

WILLIS, Texas – UPDATE: Montgomery Fire Department confirmed Thursday that the 18-year-old girl who suffered burns over half her body passed away. Original story: The North Montgomery Fire Department is investigating after rescuing a teen from a blaze they said left more than half of her body burned. According to firefighters, an 18-year-old has second and third-degree burns to more than 50% of her body. Officials said the teen was found unconscious in a closet but firefighters were able to get her pulse back. Woman’s body found in back seat of van in southeast Houston: Police
HOUSTON – Police are investigating after they said a security guard at a southeast Houston park discovered a woman’s dead body in the back seat of a van Wednesday night. According to investigators, the guard didn’t see the van pull up while he was making his rounds at the Sagemont Park Community Center on Hughes Road. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the woman dead from gunshot wounds. Police said they believe the woman died somewhere else and that her body was dumped along with the van at the park. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Officials: Man shot by ex’s boyfriend, causes crash that closed Gulf Freeway
HOUSTON – The Gulf Freeway’s main lanes are back open as Houston police investigate an overnight crash and shooting. Police said the situation started when an ex-boyfriend went to his ex-girlfriend’s home at the Life at Clearwood apartment complex. “Basically, as far as we know, he stated he had a weapon on him, he forced entry into the home where he was shot,” said Houston Police Detective C. Grahmann. Grahmann said the woman’s children were home and her current boyfriend shot the ex-boyfriend. Police said the ex-boyfriend got into a truck and crashed into a railing, then came to rest against a light post at around 11:32 p.m. on the Gulf Freeway.

HOUSTON – Houston police are looking for a man they said shot a father in front of his girlfriend and child while the family was stopped at a red light in northeast Houston Sunday. Police said the shooting happened at 10200 Eastex Freeway (North U. S. Highway 59) service around 9:45 p.m. Police said Balthazar was traveling with his girlfriend and child northbound near the schene when a black, four-door sedan tried to block him in at the traffic light. The suspect exited his vehicle and fired a shot Balthazar’s vehicle, investigators said. Police said the girlfriend and child were not injured during the incident.

Firefighter and resident injured as blaze spreads through N. Harris County apartment complex: Officials
HOUSTON – Families at a north Harris County apartment complex rushed to escape a raging fire. Officials said one firefighter and a resident were injured in the fire. Officials said they battled the blaze at Capwood Apartments on Aldine Mail Route and JFK Boulevard at around 3:26 a.m. Firefighters worked to put out the fire for nearly an hour, officials said. Officials said the injured firefighter and resident were treated on the scene and released.
2 men killed during robbery at NW Houston apartment complex; search for 3 suspects underway: HCSO
HOUSTON – Deputies said two men were killed during a robbery at an apartment complex in northwest Harris County Thursday. Deputies said when they arrived at the scene, they found two Hispanic males dead from multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies say after the shooting, three Hispanic men were seen running away from the apartment and haven't been seen since. Strip club or restaurant? Club Onyx raided after opening back up to customers overnight
HOUSTON – Club Onyx was raided after the club was open back up to customers Friday morning. Police said they are trying to figure out if the establishment is a restaurant or club. The owner said he has the proper permits to open as a restaurant or nightclub and he decided to open as a restaurant. Houston police and the fire marshal said they were trying to figure out if the club has the correct permits to operate as a full-service restaurant. While adult entertainment venues are not on the list of businesses allowed to reopen Friday, restaurants are, and so Club Onyx said it would reopen as a restaurant with “featured entertainers."
Woman’s body found in Lake Houston, police say
HOUSTON – Houston police said they are investigating after a woman’s body was found in Lake Houston Monday night. A resident walking along Lake Houston in the 13000 block of Lakeside Terrace Drive at around 7 p.m. saw a body in the lake and called 911, HPD Sergeant J. Saldana and Detective C. Sharp said. The victim’s body was retrieved, and police said there were no apparent signs of trauma to the woman’s body. Police said the woman’s identity and cause of her death are pending following an autopsy.
