HOUSTON – A 31-year-old restaurant that is well-known in the Asian community in southwest Houston was damaged in a fire Sunday, firefighters said. Located in the 7320 block of Southwest Freeway, officials said the blaze broke out at Fung’s Kitchen around 11:47 p.m. According to firefighters, a Houston police officer was driving by when he saw the smoke coming from the restaurant. Strong winds gave firefighters a difficult time when putting out the blaze, officials said. Firefighters said no one was inside the building during the fire and it started from the inside of the building.

2 local defendants in Capitol riot appear in Houston federal court
HOUSTON – Two defendants charged with taking part in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 made court appearances at the Houston federal building on Thursday. One of the suspects is former Houston police officer Tam Pham while the other is Joshua Lollar, 39, who came to the federal building to post bond. Federal prosecutors accuse Lollar of clashing with capitol police two weeks ago as he made his way into the Capitol building during the riot. Federal agents said Lollar posted photos of himself inside the Capitol and even broadcast a Facebook Live post as he made his way in. On Thursday, Lollar arrived at the federal building, posted a deposit on a 50,000 bond and was fitted with an electronic monitor.

While talking to police, officers said he backed away and fell into a ditch, suffering some cuts. Police said they called for paramedics, and while waiting for them, the man collapsed. Police searching for 2 suspects in connection to man’s fatal shooting in southeast Houston
HOUSTON – Houston police said they are looking for at least two people in connection to a man’s fatal shooting Sunday. Police said paramedics responded to a medical call at a home on Alvin Street near Scott Street and the South Loop. Officers said they found a man shot to death. According to investigators, the man got into an altercation with two other people who live in the home. Police said they are now looking for those residents but have not released a description of them.

Man found shot to death at gas station in southeast Houston, police say
HOUSTON – A murder investigation is underway after police said a man was found shot in a truck at a southeast Houston gas station Wednesday night. Investigators said the man was found at a Citgo on South Loop East and Broadway around 8:45 p.m. According to officers, the victim was transported to a trauma center while CPR was in progress but was pronounced dead. As of now, police said they have no suspects and say they aren’t sure if the man was shot at the gas station or somewhere else and then drove to the gas station.

16-year-old shot, killed in northeast Harris County, deputies say
HOUSTON – Deputies said they are investigating a shooting that left a 16-year-old male dead in northeast Harris County Wednesday. According to Deputy Thomas Gilliland, deputies arrived at the scene where the homeowner was performing CPR on a 16-year-old male that had been shot in the residence. The man told deputies he left the home one to two hours before and the 16-year-old was left inside the home by himself. Deputies said when the man arrived home, the door was ajar and he found that the 16-year-old had been shot inside the house. The man called 911 and attempted CPR before EMS arrived and pronounced the teen dead, deputies said.
Search underway for man after woman’s son finds her beaten to death, police say
HOUSTON – An eight year-old-boy discovered his mother’s murdered body and now the search is on for her killer. Investigators charged 22-year-old Alexis Armando Rojas-Mendez with murdering 27-year-old Ashley Garcia in the 5500 block of DeSoto. They claim when the young boy found his mother’s body, Rojas-Mendez said she was just sleeping. The documents also state Rojas-Mendez beat Garcia to death with a steel toe boot inside his northwest Houston apartment early Saturday morning, while her son was nearby. According to investigators, after Mendez killed Garcia, he told her son she was just sleeping and not to wake her up.
3-year-old drowns in pool during house party in northeast Houston, police say
HOUSTON – Police said a 3-year-old boy is dead after drowning at a home in northeast Houston Sunday. Police said it happened on Longview Street near Wayside Drive around 2:30 a.m. According to investigators, a party was going on at the home when the child was found face down in a pool. After the boy was pulled from the pool, CPR was performed on him until emergency crews arrived, officers said. Police said he was resuscitated and rushed to a nearby trauma center, where he later died.

HOUSTON – Homicide investigators are trying to piece together what happened after they said firefighters found a dead man’s body inside a burning home in southeast Houston Thursday. Police said the incident happened off Hogue Street near Bellfort around 5 p.m. Officials said Houston firefighters located a house with smoke coming out of it and searched the residence. According to investigators, firefighters found a man who appeared to have been shot several times and possibly stabbed. Police said it appears the fire was intentionally set.

HOUSTON – A man is dead after being shot and then run over by an SUV in northeast Houston Sunday, police said. Police said the man was found dead in the road shortly before 9 p.m. near North Wayside and Hensen Street. According to investigators, witnesses told them they saw the man being thrown out of a black Tahoe with chrome rims. That’s when they said the vehicle ran over him. Police said there is no word yet on a motive.

HOUSTON – An innocent man is dead after deputies said a car racing another one going nearly 100 miles per hour crashed into him Thursday. Deputies said the incident happened on Cutten Road near Cypress Creek Parkway in northwest Harris County around 6:45 p.m. Investigators say they have a good lead on the second suspect. “We got yet another death on our road,” Sean Teare with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office said. Man fatally shot in parking lot of apartment complex in west Houston, police say
HOUSTON – Police said they are searching for a gunman who shot and killed a man outside a west Houston apartment complex Wednesday. Police said the victim and the suspect met Wednesday night in the parking lot of the Paramont Apartments off Barker Cypress Road around 8 p.m. According to investigators, the victim was outside of his vehicle when he was shot multiple times. Police are now questioning the person who they say was with him at the time of the shooting. Witnesses said the suspects, three men, left in a dark sedan.
Teen injured in drive-by shooting near school playground; police say it may have been gang-related
HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old injured in southeast Houston Wednesday. Commander Lorenza with the Houston Police Department told KPRC 2 the victim was walking down Evergreen near Southmayd Elementary School around 9:50 a.m. when a dark green minivan pulled up and started shooting. BREAKING NEWS:@houstonpolice are on the 1800 block of Evergreen near Southmayd Elementary School. Officers said the victim stopped right on the sidewalk near the school after he was shot and school officials called for help. According to investigators, there were some children inside the school at the time of the shooting.
