ABILENE, Texas – Four months after being found guilty of the murder of his parents, Antonio Armstrong Jr. is talking about his conviction for the first time in an exclusive jailhouse interview with KPRC 2 reporter Rilwan Balogun and KPRC 2 Investigates producer Jason Nguyen.

Balogun and Nguyen have led Houston’s coverage of the Armstrong case, breaking several significant developments since jury selection for his third capital murder trial started in May. Throughout the trial, they also brought you exclusive, behind-the-scenes analyses through our multi-platform coverage experience we call ‘The Bench.’

In August, Armstrong was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 40 years for shooting and killing his mom and dad, Dawn and Antonio Sr., at the family’s southwest Houston home in 2016.

Now, the 24-year-old husband and father of one is settling into his new home at the Robertson Unit in Abilene, Texas -- which is located west of Dallas.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice allowed KPRC 2 one hour with Armstrong, who sat separated from our crew by a glass partition.

No question was off the table -- Armstrong talked in a seemingly-candid fashion about the night of the murder, his third trial and conviction, his family, and what’s next in his appeal.

Despite the long road ahead, Armstrong told KPRC 2 his faith is keeping him going.

“This is not how my story ends,” he said.
