HOUSTON – Have we hit the moment when the ‘Be Someone’ sign will be a beloved memory of the past? Maybe.

The anonymous artist behind the piece hinted on social media that they may stop updating it. The iconic bridge art piece is located on the Union Pacific railroad bridge over the I-45 and I-10 interchange.

“Even if we don’t paint the bridge anymore we will still continue to put in work! Ten years of the ‘Be Someone’ bridge has been amazing,” the artist wrote on Instagram.

The piece, considered one of the city’s most photographed unofficial landmarks, has been vandalized and repainted across the decade. Previously, someone altered the signage to read, Vote or Die, George Floyd’s name, and “WASH UR HANDS” during the height of the pandemic.

Most recently, the well-known signs read: “Know Good.”

The artist, who said they remained anonymous because graffiti art is illegal, thanked those that supported the movement over the years.

“I’d like to thank ya’ll for showing so much love and living up to the ‘Be Someone’ movement. Keep going. Keep representing and go make a difference in your daily life. Go out there and do it for your own sanity, your own joy, and spread the love,” the account wrote.
