BAYTOWN, Texas – A man was stabbed in the head during a fight involving nunchucks in Baytown Saturday night, police say.

When officers responded to a call about a fight in the 3300 block of Michigan, they say they found a woman who said she’d been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, Caleb Liepold, of Baytown.

Police say the woman, who has not been identified, had a protective order against Liepold, which prohibited him from having contact with her. However, the woman said she’d talked with Liepold, permitting him to come by to pick up his things.

Police say when Liepold arrived, the woman met him outside, where he assaulted her and eventually followed her inside her home, made a disturbance inside and then went outside again.

At that point, police say the woman’s friend, Jose Garcia, of Baytown, confronted Liepold with nunchucks, also known as nunchakus.

A fight broke out and police say when Garcia struck Liepold with the nunchucks, Liepold stabbed Garcia several times in the back of the head, the arm and his hand.

Liepold was charged for assault and violation of a protective order. He is in the Baytown Jail.

Garcia was flown to a Houston area hospital for treatment. He is in stable condition. A warrant will be filed for his arrest for aggravated assault once he is released from the hospital, according to police.
