Toddler finds loaded gun on kitchen table, Corpus Christi police say

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A Corpus Christi man was arrested after his 2-year-old son found a loaded gun on the kitchen table and fatally shot himself in the head.
Corpus Christi police Officer Gena Pena said Eric Javier Morales, 22, is charged with criminally negligent homicide. He is being held in the Nueces County Jail.

Pena said the child, Ryan Morales, shot himself Sunday morning.
The child's father was not home at the time, but the child's mother and a 1-year-old sibling were.
Eric Morales went to the hospital where his son was taken, and later met with investigators before he was charged, Pena said.
