Fire, explosions destroy 4 school buses in Coldspring

COLDSPRING, Texas – Several school buses were burned Wednesday after a fire with explosions was reported at a Coldspring bus barn.

Firefighters were called around 10 p.m. to the Coldspring-Oakhurst Consolidated Independent School District bus barn. Firefighters found four buses in flames and another bus just beginning to burn, investigators said.

Superintendent Leland Moore said the bomb squad at the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office and the Texas State Fire Marshal from Austin are investigating the cause of the fire, but no foul play is suspected, investigators said.

"Some said that they heard some loud noises, some pops,” Moore said. “It could have been tires, could have been glass, could have been something else."

No one was hurt in the fire.

Moore said classes will resume Monday after spring break, with normal bus routes and times.
