Galveston – Summer and kids go hand-in-hand and if you’re looking for a way to keep your little ones busy (and learning) while school’s out, Moody Gardens has a pretty great option.
Their Pyramid Kids Summer Camp Coordinator Katia Ivanov explained what camp looks like, and even some of the hands-on activities the kids get to try, like getting a close-up look at sea life during Shark and Ray Awareness Week where kids are getting the chance to touch rays and learning about different species up close. And the best part is that every week has a different theme, so the experience changes all summer long.
Camp runs Monday through Friday, for five full days, and it’s open to kids entering kindergarten all the way through 8th grade. They also separate campers into younger and older groups, so the activities stay age-appropriate. And if parents need it, there’s an option to add before and after care.
Staff members are trained, CPR and first aid certified, and have experience working with kids, often with education or biology backgrounds. They also have procedures in place to make sure campers are supervised and that children are always released to the right adult at pickup.
For parents who want to register, Moody Gardens recommends starting on their website under the Education section, where you can sign up and complete the required forms and paperwork.
