THE WOODLANDS, Texas – A Texas couple is expecting twins after a years-long struggle with infertility.
Lauren Walker shared her and her husband Garyt's story in a moving Facebook post that has since gone viral.
Walker posted a photo showing two onesies surrounded by the 452 needles Walker said she used during her in-vitro fertilization treatments, with the caption:
"We prayed for 953 days...452 needles, 1000's of tears, 1 corrective surgery, 4 clomid/letrozole attempts, 2 IVF rounds, 3 failed transfers and & 1 Amazing GOD."
Walker had been trying to have a baby since 2014 but faced numerous physical tribulations along the way.
"There were many setbacks and road blocks put in our path: unresponsive trigger attempts, rescued egg retrieval, uterine septums, hyper-stimulations, drug immunities, clotting issues, etc.," Walker wrote. "The way our doctor put it is: 'Yes these things are rare, but not unheard of. What's rare is having it all happen to the same person.'"
Walker said her emotional journey was equally challenging, but in her darkest hours she turned to her husband, whom she calls "devoted" and "steadfast," and her faith:
"I didn't know I was capable of such strength and fight. I DO know it was Garyts [sic] support and Gods [sic] holy spirit holding my hand every step of the way."
Walker, who is due in August, said she lost five embryos before finally having success last year. Now, the couple is looking toward the future and the twins they've named Duke and Diana:
"Mommy and Daddy cannot wait to hold you in our arms, for we have carried you in our hearts for a lifetime."
