KPRC 2 is looking for a Branded Content Strategist to help build and scale a new generation of marketing solutions across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
This role sits at the intersection of audience behavior, storytelling, and revenue — developing branded content and integrated campaigns that deliver measurable results for clients and drive new revenue for the station.
This is a player-coach role, combining strategic leadership with hands-on creative involvement. You will lead campaign development while actively shaping content, messaging, and execution to ensure it performs.
This is not a traditional production or social media role. We are looking for someone who understands how audiences consume content and can turn that into marketing that drives results and revenue.
Key Responsibilities
70% Strategy, Revenue, and Campaign Ownership
- Build and lead branded content and marketing strategies that generate revenue across social, digital, streaming, and broadcast platforms
- Develop and execute integrated campaigns designed to drive engagement, audience growth, leads, and measurable business results for clients
- Partner with sales to shape and close client opportunities by translating needs into compelling, revenue-generating marketing solutions
- Create and package scalable marketing offerings, including:
- Social-first campaigns
- Short-form video strategies
- Sponsored content
- Creator-style storytelling
- Integrated brand partnerships
- Own campaign performance end-to-end:
- Define success metrics
- Track results
- Optimize to improve performance and revenue outcomes
- Build repeatable, scalable solutions that can be sold across multiple clients and categories
- Generate client-facing strategies and presentations that clearly connect content, audience, and business outcomes
- Identify and develop revenue-generating branded content opportunities that extend Houston Life talent and station personalities beyond broadcast into social, digital, and platform-native campaigns
30% Hands-On Creative Leadership & Execution
- Actively shape content execution by writing scripts, hooks, and messaging that improve performance
- Guide producers and editors on format, pacing, and platform-specific storytelling
- Stay embedded in key campaigns to ensure quality, clarity, and effectiveness
- Develop prototypes and “gold standard” content to set creative benchmarks
- Provide real-time creative feedback during production to improve outcomes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, media studies, or related field — or equivalent experience
- Proven ability to develop and execute marketing strategies that drive measurable business results and revenue
- Experience in branded content, digital marketing, audience growth, or content strategy
- Strong understanding of platform-native storytelling and how content performs across social and digital ecosystems
- Ability to translate audience insights into clear, actionable strategies and content that drives performance
- Strong creative instincts, including the ability to write and shape content for impact and engagement
- Experience with paid social, analytics, and campaign optimization preferred
- Ability to present, sell, and defend ideas to clients and internal stakeholders
- Comfortable operating as a player-coach, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on creative involvement
- Strong ownership mindset — accountable for outcomes (performance and revenue), not just output
