Stay hydrated as summer heat takes over Houston. Some relief from the heat is on the way, but it comes with rain and storms

Safe to say it is hot out and the heat isn’t going anywhere. In fact, it will get hotter as humidity continues to build in this weekend.

While Saturday and Sunday will be mostly cloudy and humid, widespread rain should arrive between Tuesday and Wednesday. I am monitoring the potential for excessive rainfall as this system moves through, with weekly rainfall totals currently estimated between 2 to 4 or more inches. There is still uncertainty regarding the exact timing and placement of the heaviest rain, as it depends on the movement of a frontal boundary and individual upper-level energy impulses. Residents should prepare for an unsettled period and stay informed as these rain chances persist through the end of next week.

What you need to know:

  • The weekend will be muggy, with isolated, short lived, rain chances on Sunday.
  • Rain and storm chances return next week with multiple waves of rain.

Weekend: More heat with humidity climbing:

The summer-like heat continues across southeast Texas from sunrise to sunset. You’ll want to stay hydrated! There is a small chance of an isolated, short lived shower Sunday.

Rain Returns Next Week:

A daily rain pattern kicks off next week as a series of storm systems move through. Timing and placement is difficult to predict but be prepared for rounds of heavy rain starting Tuesday. By the end of the week 2″-4″ of rain is expected to fall.
