“UT needs rich donors”: Emails show wealthy alumni supporting “Eyes of Texas” threatened to pull donations
They blasted off emails to UT-Austin President Jay Hartzell, calling the image of the abandoned quarterback "disgusting," "embarrassing" and "disturbing." "The Eyes of Texas is non-negotiable," wrote another graduate who said they’ve had season tickets since 1990 and whose name was redacted by the university. While those who emailed represent a fraction of the more than 540,000 UT-Austin alumni, their threats had some university fundraisers sounding the alarms. "'The Eyes of Texas' should not only unite us, but hold all of us accountable to our institution’s core values. "I know this much," Sarkisian said, "'The Eyes of Texas' is our school song.
Alabama QB Mac Jones heads into Senior Bowl on gimpy ankle
The next game he plays is for his NFL draft stock, provided the Alabama quarterback's gimpy left ankle is good to go. Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy said the plan is for Jones to dress out and see how his ankle feels. “Just being in that room, I already learned so much about NFL football,” he said. Mond started 44 games for the Aggies, Ehlinger logged 43 starts for the Longhorns,Mond led the Aggies into College Football Playoffs contention in his final season. I just wanted to come and kind of learn more about NFL football and learn a new playbook, which I thought I did a good job with.

University of Texas Longhorn band won’t play “Eyes of Texas” this weekend after some members say they’re unwilling
The Daily Texan reported that a message sent to band members by leader Scott Hanna said the survey results wouldn’t affect whether the band performs at future games. Band members are “evenly divided” overplaying the song, the student newspaper reported, but responses from certain instrument sections would prevent the band from playing this week. The message from Hanna said many band members wanted to have further discussions about the song, which he said he would facilitate. Only then can we reimagine its future.”Removing “The Eyes of Texas” song was not the student’s only demand this past summer. Rattler TD pass in 4th OT sends OU past No. 22 Texas 53-45
The Oklahoma freshman threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Drake Stoops in the fourth overtime and the Sooners survived a late rally from No. It was just the second four-OT game in 25 seasons of the Big 12, joining Kansas State's 53-50 victory over Texas A&M in 2011. The Longhorns (2-2, 1-2) also left themselves little hope of playing for a Big 12 title, much less being part of the College Football Playoff conversation. “I was kind of surprised when I came out at first,” said Rattler, who was tied for the Big 12 lead with four interceptions coming in. POLL IMPLICATIONSConsecutive Big 12 losses, the first for Oklahoma since 1998, sent the Sooners tumbling from No.

Despite the defensive miscues throughout the year, the Longhorns have lived and died by the play of their quarterback. Ehlinger showed his superstar potential with this toss between two defenders for a touchdown to freshman Jake Smith, who also made a phenomenal grab on the play.

6 things to know ahead of Saturday's Iowa State v UT matchup
It will be chilly, but with their season on the line, expect the Texas Longhorns to leave it all out on the field in this weekend's matchup against Iowa State. Iowa State put up 41 points on the road last week in Norman. After driving down the field and scoring a touchdown to make it 42-41, Iowa State opted to go for two and the attempt didn't succeed. This was part in thanks to a controversial no-call on a potential pass interference that might have turned a conversion for Iowa State into a game-sealing interception for the Sooners. The stadium will be loud, and Iowa State will certainly be looking for some reprisal this weekend when the Horns come to town.

It was the fifth win in six tries against Texas for the Horned Frogs, which includes their first four-game winning streak in the series since the 1930s. TCU: Duggan went a long way toward securing the starting job long-term.
Why is the Longhorns defense struggling so much?
All of these are reasons that this Texas Longhorns defense has struggled mightily throughout the 2019 season, but what is the excuse for being the 119th ranked team in the nation in total defense? The performance of the defense this year has been a huge disappointment, especially considering how well Sam Ehlinger and the offense have played. Historically SpeakingTexas had their worst defensive season in terms of total yardage back in 2015 when they allowed 452.6 yards per game. If the season ended today, their current 469.9 yards allowed per game would be the worst in school history. Will this weak Texas defense overshadow this powerful Texas offense and ruin the Horns hopes of having a successful year?

The Oklahoma State defensive line struggled to shut him down from kickoff to the final whistle. Momentum Shift:It was 4th down and 6 late in the game for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. LSU never looked back after converting on a 28-second drive that gave them a 13-point halftime lead. Texas had a chance to take the lead against LSU on a 4th-and-goal play from inside the LSU 5-yard line. When asked about quarterback Burrow, Texas defensive coordinator Orlando said Burrow reminds him "a lot of our guy," in reference to Ehlinger.

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas opened the season strong last week and is now 1-0 under Tom Herman for the first time. What will the Texas running game look like this week against LSU with Jordan Whittington sidelined? Texas moved the ball with ease for the most part last weekend, but LSU will be no cakewalk. He could be a sneaky offensive weapon for Texas this weekend if the LSU defense fails to keep an eye on him.
