Debris falls from plane during emergency landing near Denver
Flight 328 was flying from Denver to Honolulu when the incident occurred, the agency said. Aviation safety experts said the plane appeared to have suffered an uncontained and catastrophic engine failure. Former NTSB Chairman Jim Hall called the incident another example of “cracks in our culture in aviation safety (that) need to be addressed. The last fatality on a U.S. airline flight involved such an engine failure on a Southwest Airlines flight from New York to Dallas in April 2018. In 2010, a Qantas Airbus A380 suffered a frightening uncontained engine failure shortly after takeoff from Singapore.
Small airplane makes emergency landing on a Texas highway
LAREDO, Texas A small airplane with three people aboard made an emergency landing Thursday on U.S. 59 near Laredo. No injuries were reported. The Texas Department of Public Safety says the episode began when air traffic controllers in Houston contacted Laredo police to alert them that an emergency landing was needed. KGNS-TV in Laredo reports that the single-engine plane then landed safely on U.S. 59 about 12 miles (19 kilometers) east of Laredo. It wasnt clear where the flight originated and what its destination was.
