University of Houston Cougars find out cancellation of AAC tournament while en route to Fort Worth
HOUSTON โ Early Thursday morning, the University of Houston menโs basketball team boarded a bus on their way to the American Athletic Conference Championship Tournament in Fort Worth. As the players tucked away luggage under the bus, there were no fans, band, or students to greet them. However, while en route to Fort Worth, the AAC canceled the tournament. Their statement reads:โCommissioner Mike Aresco announced this morning that the 2020 Air Force Reserve Menโs Basketball Championship, scheduled to take place March 12-15 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, will not be played. This is a proactive decision to protect the safety, health and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches and staff and all involved with the tournament.โ
UH, Rice, TSU, other Texas schools headed to NCAA baseball regionals
HOUSTON โ The NCAA baseball tournament field is set and there will be plenty of local flavor. The University of Houston, which won the AAC Tournament, will host a regional that will include Texas A&M, Baylor and Iowa. Rice University, which won the C-USA Tournament, is headed to the LSU regional as the third seed. The Owls will open with Southeast Louisiana while Texas Southern University plays LSU. The Texas Longhorns made the field and will play in the Long Beach Regional this weekend.
