HOUSTON – Finally, the week has arrived! Are you ready for some high school football?

Greater Houston and all of Texas are counting down to opening weekend on Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

There is a reason that college football coaches flock to the Houston area to recruit talent every year; it’s because this region produces some of the nation’s best players, and it’s been that way for decades.

In, Texas the high school season is special as the public schools in UIL play a regular season that lasts 11 weeks to get in 10 games. That is followed then by additional six weeks of postseason play that doesn’t does not wrap up until right before Christmas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

So, what are the teams to watch out for this fall in Houston? KPRC 2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy and VYPE Media’s Matt Malatesta broke down the favorites and key players that are looking for breakout seasons.
