MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A disabled Army veteran in Montgomery County has a hard time getting medical help because of a bridge on his driveway.
It's in such bad shape that the fire department can't drive its trucks on it.
Sherry Lilley said the fire department has to use an ATV to get him from his home in Splendora to the hospital.
In April, he paid a man $5,900 to fix the bridge, but the man disappeared.
Now, Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts, Precinct 4 Constable Kenneth Hayden and members of the community have teamed up to rebuild Lilley's driveway and the bridge.
A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help Lilley recover his $5,900.
