Driver dies after car hits stalled 18-wheeler on Loop 610 near Kirby

HOUSTON – Houston police say a woman was killed in a crash that happened around midnight on Loop 610 near Kirby Drive.

Investigators said a vehicle struck the back of a stalled 18-wheeler in the westbound lanes. The woman driving the car was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police said she was the only person inside the vehicle. The 18-wheeler driver was not hurt, officers confirmed.

The woman’s identity has not been released as authorities work to notify her next of kin.
