HOUSTON – Several people were detained early Saturday as Houston police and multiple city departments responded to an after-hours club in southeast Houston.
The operation happened around 2:30 a.m. at El Volcan in the 3700 block of Broadway.
Preliminary information from the scene indicated officers with the Houston Police Department’s Eastside Division conducted an operation at the club and detained several people. HPD had not released official details about what prompted the operation or whether anyone was arrested or charged.
The response extended beyond Houston police. The Houston Fire Department, Houston Fire Marshal’s Office, Administration and Regulatory Affairs Department, Houston Health Department and Houston Public Works were also at the scene.
The operation comes as Houston police and other city departments have conducted enforcement operations at other after-hours clubs in the city amid complaints and safety concerns involving some late-night venues.
It was not immediately clear what authorities found at El Volcan or whether the business could face any citations or other enforcement action.
KPRC 2 has reached out to HPD for additional information about the operation, including why the club was targeted, how many people were detained and whether any arrests were made.
