Authorities are investigating after a child under the age of 5 was found unresponsive Thursday night in Spring, prompting detectives to investigate the family’s home for possible foul play.
According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, the incident began around 8:20 p.m. when the child’s parents drove to an Exxon gas station at 25819 Cypresswood Drive, where deputies were already on scene.
Officials said the child was unconscious and not breathing when the family arrived. Deputies immediately began rendering aid and performed life-saving measures until EMS arrived.
The child was transported to a nearby hospital, where the child is being treated. Officials have not released the child’s condition.
Following the incident, detectives responded to the hospital and launched an investigation into the possibility of foul play.
Investigators also secured a second scene at the family’s home in the 3000 block of Rendezvous Court in Spring. Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Harris County Precinct 4 investigators remained at the home Friday morning, collecting evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not said what led to the child’s medical emergency or why detectives are investigating the case as possible foul play. No arrests have been announced.
The investigation remains active.
