HOUSTON – If you’ve watched Houston weather over the past several years, chances are you’ve seen Rachel Briers. Starting Monday, Aug. 3, the veteran meteorologist will make her KPRC 2 debut.
Viewers can watch Briers on KPRC 2 weekdays at noon, 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. She’ll also appear across KPRC 2+, Click2Houston.com and the station’s streaming and digital platforms.

Briers brings more than a decade of broadcast meteorology experience, including more than seven years forecasting for Houston-area viewers. A three-time Emmy Award winner, she’s covered hurricanes, flash flooding, severe storms and extreme heat across Southeast Texas.
“Weather is one of the most important services we provide our viewers,” said Ana Lastra, KPRC 2’s news director. “Rachel’s experience, local knowledge and passion for serving this community make her a tremendous addition to KPRC 2 Weather. Together, we’ll continue helping Houstonians prepare for what’s ahead and making Houston better through the trusted journalism our community depends on.”
A Texas A&M University graduate with a degree in Atmospheric Sciences, Briers began her career in Lubbock before becoming chief meteorologist in Midland. She later spent more than seven years forecasting in Houston before taking time away from television to spend more time with her husband and two daughters.
“I’m excited to join KPRC 2 and continue serving a community that has been home for so many years,” Briers said. “Houston has taught me that weather is about helping people make informed decisions to keep themselves and their families safe. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve viewers across Southeast Texas once again.”
Briers is a member of the American Meteorological Society and a lifelong Aggie fan.
When she’s not tracking the forecast, she enjoys spending time with her family.
