BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown police say a suspect is in custody after a drive-by shooting wounded a man outside a nursing home Tuesday.
It happened in the 4100 block of Allenbrook Drive at approximately 2 p.m.
Police say a woman was standing outside the nursing home talking with a male acquaintance who was sitting inside a vehicle when another vehicle drove by. This vehicle was occupied by another male acquaintance who fired multiple shots, striking the male victim in the leg before fleeing.
The victim reportedly ran inside the nursing home and was later taken to a hospital. The woman was not hurt and no other injuries were reported.
Deputies with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office along with Texas DPS Troopers later located the suspect vehicle, who led them on a chase on Interstate 10. Police say the suspect ultimately crashed into a ditch and he was taken into custody.
