HOUSTON – A crash on the Katy Freeway is under investigation after police say an HPD officer was struck while on foot early Sunday morning. This information is preliminary and subject to change as police continue investigating and confirm details.
The crash happened on IH-10 Katy westbound at Beltway 8-West, affecting all mainlanes and both shoulders. All mainlanes were shut down but are now starting to reopen.
Houston Police said a call related to the incident dropped around 2:49 a.m. Police said the officer was pinned between two vehicles while on the freeway, but his injuries were described as not life-threatening, and he was walking around at the scene. Two other injuries were reported.
HPD said one person has been detained and is being transported to jail. Details, including what led up to the crash and any potential charges, are limited.
