KP George KO’d in primary race for reelection as Fort Bend County Judge

The biggest development in Tuesday night’s Fort Bend County primary race wasn’t which candidates surged ahead as vote totals rolled in — it was who didn’t.

Incumbent County Judge KP George, who is set to face a felony criminal trial next Tuesday, fell to fifth place in the Republican primary, effectively ending his bid for a third term.

With multiple candidates in the race, George’s position made it mathematically impossible for him to secure one of the top two spots needed to advance.

Businessman Daniel Wong emerged as the clear frontrunner on the Republican side, capturing more than 50% of the vote. On the Democratic side, Dexter McCoy held a commanding lead over his opponents as results were posted to the county’s website.

KPRC 2 reached out to George’s team for comment but did not receive a response.

George’s criminal trial is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. next Tuesday.
