Both were taken to local hospitals, but one teen died of his injuries, and the other remains in critical condition undergoing surgery.

HPD Detective Kyle Heaverlo said investigators believe the incident may have stemmed from a drug deal that went bad. Police say the teens were shot at a nearby apartment complex parking lot and crashed while attempting to flee the scene.

Authorities believe the suspect may have been driving a white sedan but said few details are available at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division.
