Houston police are working to piece together what led to a shooting at a large New Year’s party that left five people injured.
Officers were called to the Live Oak and Elgin area just after midnight. At the scene, police found two victims, including a man shot in the back. Three more gunshot victims later walked into nearby hospitals, HPD said.
The Houston Fire Department transported at least three people to trauma centers. Police confirmed two victims are in critical condition.
Investigators believe the shooting happened at a short-term rental where more than 100 people in their 20s were attending a party. Fireworks were still smoldering in the driveway when officers arrived.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Houston police.
