1 juvenile killed, another injured during shooting at block party in southeast Houston

HOUSTON, Texas – A boy is dead, and a girl has been hospitalized after a shooting during a block party in the Sunnyside area Saturday night.

Houston police responded to reports of a shooting in the 3800 block of Hitchcock Lane and Scott Street around 11 p.m.

Officers said the girl was shot in the leg and the boy was shot in the stomach. Both were transported to the hospital, but the boy later died.

It’s not clear what prompted the shooting.

“We do know that there was a large crowd gathered here, and evidently a shooting took place. We do not have any suspect’s information at this time or any vehicle information at this time,” said Lt. Ali with the Houston Police Department.
