Wrong-way driver killed, another hospitalized after head-on collision in SE Houston

HOUSTON – A head-on collision in southeast Houston late Thursday night claimed one driver’s life and sent another to the hospital.

It happened a little after 11 p.m. when the Houston Police Department said a driver going the opposite direction in the westbound lanes of Highway 225 over Goodyear crashed head-on with another vehicle.

The wrong-way driver has only been described as a man in his 20s or 30s who died upon impact before his vehicle caught fire. The other vehicle’s driver was sent to a nearby trauma center, where police said they are expected to survive.

No additional details were shared on what factors may have led up to the crash but an investigation into what happened continues.
