Charges filed against husband accused of stabbing wife to death in SE Houston home; suspect possibly in Mexico

HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against a man who is accused of stabbing his wife to death in southeast Houston, the Houston Police Department said.

Investigators said 51-year-old Juan Jose Trillo-Calvo, who is not in custody, has been identified as the suspect and was charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. He is accused of killing 50-year-old Veronica Elizalde.

On August 7, HPD patrol officers were called to a residence in the 6800 block of Airport Boulevard at around 3:10 p.m.

Police said when they arrived at the home, they found Elizalde with multiple stab wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Further investigation identified Trillo-Calvo, the victim’s husband, as a person of interest who was wanted for questioning in the incident, HPD said. It was believed he possibly fled to the San Antonio area. Detectives now believe the suspect could be in Mexico.
