Original story:

On July 15, a woman who was reportedly in an on-and-off relationship with Anderson for the past year, told authorities she returned to her home after grabbing coffee around 7 a.m. and found Anderson’s car parked in front of her garage. The woman told officers she kept driving to avoid being in the home with Anderson, but he followed her vehicle and tried cutting her off while she was driving.

The woman said she continued to drive down Almeda Road, attempting to get away from Anderson. When she thought she finally lost him, officers said she returned to her home.

When she returned home, the woman said she parked her car in front of her garage to prevent Anderson from going inside if he reappeared. As the woman was closing her garage, officers said Anderson appeared as the garage was closing and forced his way inside the residence.

After falling on the stairs, court documents allege the woman ran to the second floor while being chased by Anderson. Officers said the woman was able to grab her gun off the coffee table, to prevent Anderson from getting it, and run into her bedroom on the third floor and lock herself inside the bathroom. After repeatedly asking Anderson to leave, the woman said he broke her locked bedroom door, refused to leave and started yelling that he was going to “beat her up.”

The woman, locked inside the restroom, said she was able to call the police before Anderson grabbed some of her shoes and escaped in his vehicle.

The Houston Texans sent the following statement regarding Anderson’s arrest Monday:

“We are aware of the report involving Darius Anderson. We are gathering information and have no further comment at this time.”

Anderson, who played at Texas Christian University from 2016-2019, spent time on the Texans’ practice team before signing a futures deal in January. In 2020, he was signed to the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent, and he also joined the Indianapolis Colts practice squad after being waived by the Cowboys. According to reports, Anderson has yet to play in an NFL game.
